Asantehene Open Golf tees of in Kumasi

Accra, May 21, GNA - The 51st Annual Asantehene Open Golf Championship tees off at the Royal Golf Course in Kumasi on Saturday, May 31 and on Sunday, June 1. Mr B. B. Appiah, Captain of the Royal Golf Club of Kumasi, who announced this in Accra on Wednesday, said the two-day 36-Hole Scratch competition which is open to professional and amateur golfers from Ghana and other African countries, would be sponsored by Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited with support from Guaranty Trust Bank, PHC Motors and Golden Tulip Hotel, Kumasi. He said the event, which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Club would also have a Handicap event. The 72-Hole Professional's category would begin on Wednesday, May 28 to Sunday, June 1. Among an array of seasoned golfers who had already registered for the competition includes T. K. Gouvinus, Kofi Addo, Owusu Boadi and Peter Abrokwa. The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu the second, would be the Special Guest of Honour. 21 May 08
