Atila wins MTN Invitational Golf at Tafo

22 year old Vincent Atila who recently completed Accra Poly defied all odds to emerge winner of the Men’s Scratch Category A of the MTN Invitational Golf competition held at the Cocoa Research Institute in Koforidua Tafo.

The Tafo Club member put up an amazing performance to grab his fourth title of the season after over coming competition from other players and prize winners, Owusu Bonsu, Peter Amenyo, Eric Bonnah and Amadu Yakubu. Atila was presented with a brand new Nokia phone and souvinirs from MTN and he urged the youth to take golf as a pastime because it keeps one fit and offers the opportunity to meet high class personalities in the corporate world.

Cynthia Nyantekyi also won the Ladies Category Scratch A, beating Mary Crombell to second spot as Cynthia Awuni also used her experience to beat young Captan and others for the Women’s Category B event.

Serame Tankobong, the CEO of MTN who experienced his first Invitational Golf congratulated all the participants, winners and media for coming to the greeny Tafo Golf Course to take part in the event. He noted that MTN is commited to support communities and bringing the competition to Tafo is one of the proofs of their social commitment and they are ready to support activities that are economically viable to MTN. According to Tankobong, MTN considers the economic perspectives of programmes and involve in those that would project the image of the company as well as benefit the society where it is held.

He commended those who have maintained the natural grass of the Tafo Golf Course since 1940 and hoped that the youth would get involved in Golf as it as a youth who won the main event.

P. A. Sersah, captain of the Tafo Golf Club told yours truly they are proud of the course because it is green through out the year and maintenance is very key as it is the only place in Ghana were one plays golf and never gets soiled.
