GCB Invitational Golf at Tafo

Accra, Sep. 11, GNA - The first Ghana Commercial Bank Limited Invitational Golf Championship tees off at the Cocoa Research Institute Golf Course at Tafo in the Eastern Region on Saturday, September 16. Dr F.K. Oppong, Captain of the Tafo Golf Club, who announced this in Accra on Monday, said about 100 golfers have invited from the Tafo, Tema, Achimota and Celebrity Golf Clubs, to participate in the one-day 18-Hole Scratch competition.

He said the event which will be played under the rules of the World's Golf governing body and the local rules of the Tafo Golf Club, has Handicap 18 as the entry requirement for Men while that of the Ladies is Handicap 24.


The Junior's according to Dr Oppong will battle against each other with Handicap 28 on a Nine-Hole competition.

Among an array of crack golfers who have already registered for the event include E.T. Mensah, John Roger, Alex Fiagomey, former captain and Kwabena Boakye, all of the Tema Country Golf Club. The first five and three winners in the Men's and Ladies competition would receive handsome prizes from the Bank.


Mr Lawrence Adu Mante, Managing Director of GCB is to be the Special Guest of Honour and will be assisted by Mr P.K. Amoabeng, President of the Tafo Golf Club to present the mouth-watering prizes to the winners.
