GPG tournament to commence on Wednesday

The Gold Fields Ghana Professional Golf (GPG) tournament organized by the Professional Golfers Association is set to commence on Wednesday December 3, at the Damang Golf Course, Western Region.

The three-day tournament opened to PGA Ghana professionals will also draw participation from invited amateurs who will be given the opportunity to play like professionals.

In the format of play, the professionals will play 72 holes but there will be a cut after the second round to reduce the field to 18.

Rules governing the tournament will be played in accordance with that of the sport as approved by the Ghana Golf Association (GGA) and the local rules of the Damang Golf Club.

The tournament forms part of the Association's effort to promote golf awareness in Ghana, with an eye to the future, to educate Ghanaians about Golf as an alternative game.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga will be among some of the invited guests to witness the opening ceremony of first Gold Fields Professional Golf tournament.
