Galaxy International School retains Minigolf Cup

Parents of participant, heads and coaches of schools, friends and family gathered at the Ridge Sport City 18-hole MOS Course to support the twenty-four Minigolf Finalist at the most anticipated grand finale of the 2018 Unilever Schools Competition.

The skipper Emmanuel Darko of Galaxy International School made his made as the King of the Course by finishing off his opponents with a smashing total score of 41 and 4 hole-in-ones. He won a 32” television set, ghc500 worth of products from Interplast for his school, a trophy, medal and a caertificate.

Blessing Noi of Pat Acadamy came in at second place with a total score of 47 took home a brand new Microwave oven, ghc500 worth of products from Interplast, a trophy for her school, a medal and a certificate, while her colleague Emmanuel Mensah took the third position with a total of 48 points and 2 hole-in-ones, received a student mattress from Latex foam, a medal and a certificate. Three student mattresses where awarded to Vincent of Pat Academy, Naomi of Galaxy International and Klinsman of Pat Academy as prizes for hitting the 4th, 5th and 6th positions respectively.

At the Kumasi Technical University in Kumasi, Modern International School came out tops with Superstar Heartwil Frimpong Leading the pack scoring 42 and 4 hole-in-ones points in total to be crowned King of the 9 hole Mobile Lane Course. Solomon Appiah came in at second position with 42 points and 5 hole-in-ones.

The skillful Esther Agbashie of Pentecostal School emerged at the best female player with 44 points. Mawuli of Kubinson International School and Esther Agbeshie swept the prize for the Most Hole-In-One score in male and female categories.

Players in Kumasi thoroughly enjoyed the competition as their parents and school administrators remarked to Mr. Enoch Nyarko – Act. Sports Director to ensure that next year’s schools competition would hold more than 5 schools.

Indeed, the Ghana Minigolf Federation promises to involve at least 10 schools next year with 200 participants for the annual Minigolf Schools Competition with bigger prizes.

The aim of the competition is to help promote Minigolf amongst students as part of the Federation’s objective to demystify the sport to become a household name in society.

Winners of the Unilever Minigolf Schools Competition stand a chance of competing in next year’s Minigolf Continental Youth Championship.

Supporting sponsors this year’s Unilever Minigolf Schools Competition are Melcom, Latex Foam, Interplast, Unilever and Azar Paint.
