Accra, Nov. 27, GNA - Emos Korbrah, Ghana's most successful golfer has vowed to pick the first slot in the impending Tafo Open scheduled to tee off on December 3 at Tafo in the Ashanti Region.

He said the event poses a great challenge for him to excel and to prove to all that he is the best in the male category in the country. Speaking to the GNA Sports at the Achimota Golf club on Monday, during his regular training session, Korbrah, popularly known as the 'grandmaster of Ghana golf', said as a professional, "I will not blow my own horns but I will prove to my compatriots of my capabilities when we step on the turf, since I will not want to underrate anyone". Touching on the secrets behind his exploits, the veteran Korbrah said he trains 6-7 times a week, with a minimum of one kilometer of jogging each week and this has made him fit enough to overcome all his opponents.

The golfer has however, expressed concern about the spate of development of the sport in the country.

He suggested the organization of more tournaments to whip up the enthusiasm of golfers as well as help the up and coming ones to improve on their performance and prepare for international championships. "The government, corporate bodies, individuals and the private sector must take keen interest in the development of the sport with special emphasis on grassroots development", he added.

"Remember Tiger Woods started at the age of seven and this propelled him to greater heights as a result of the basic tutorials he received at such a tender age."

Korbrah said golf was an interesting game, which when well supported can generate employment for Ghanaians, especially the youth.
