Junior golfers asked to be disciplined

Accra, Nov. 27, GNA - Junior golfers in the country have been called upon to introduce discipline and respect into their training so as to grow to become proficient in heir game and be professionals. They were also advised to take their training sessions seriously to enable them win laurels for themselves and the nation.

Mr Kojo Choi, Chief Executive Officer of e-Talk Ghana, agents of Millicom Ghana Limited made the call in Accra on Monday.

He was speaking to newsmen on the exploits of Vincent Torgah, a Ghanaian professional golfer who is representing Ghana in a number of competitions in South Africa.

Mr Choi who sponsored the golfer, said without discipline it would be very difficult for anybody especially sportsmen and women to succeed in life.

He therefore charged the sports personalities against indulging in any nefarious activities that might ruin their lives adding that they should always make discipline to be their hallmark. The Chief Executive Officer also called on corporate bodies and institutions to offer support to the up and coming golfers to enable them develop their potentials.

Torgah, 23, a member of the Tema Country Golf Club qualified to participate in the Dunhill Open and the South African Airways Open Championships scheduled for December 7-10 and 14-17 this year. The new golf sensation would also participate in the Johannesburg Open, Dimension Data Pro-Am and the Nashua Master all scheduled for January next year.

Torgah won the Ghana-Korea Open and Tafo Open in 2000, Tema Open in 2002 an the Nigeria-Abuja West Africa Kitty Open in 2002.
