Lady Captain's Golf to tee off at Achimota

Accra, Jan. 22, GNA - The Lady Captain's Prize Championship of the Achimota Golf Club tees off at the Achimota Golf course in Accra on Thursday, January 25.

Mrs Clara Price, Lady Captain of the Club who announced this in Accra on Monday, said about six companies are sponsoring the One-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition.

She said the companies are Ghana International Airlines, Vanguard Assurance Company Limited, Ecobank Ghana Limited, Zenith Bank Ghana Limited, CAL Bank and Guinness Ghana Breweries. Mrs Price said that even though the competition is mainly meant for women and junior golfers, invitation had been extended to their male golfers to play as supporters.

She said a 'Charity Open' championship has also been instituted in the Ladies category, which is aimed at raising funds to support poor and needy institutions in the country. Mrs Price expressed the hope that all golf clubs would introduce such an innovation into their game plans as a way of assisting the deprived in the society.

More than 70 golfers are expected to participate in the competition, which has very attractive prizes at stake.
