Accra, April, 2, GNA - Jonathan Myers-Lamptey returned a net score of 68 to win the 19th annual P.D. Quartey Memorial Golf championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Sunday. Anthony Ashiabgor came second with 71 net with David Opoku Mensah taking the third position with 77 net.
Beatrice Hampton won the Ladies event with 68 net followed by Maria Ben-George at second position with 69 net while Florence Etwi-Barimah came third with 70 net.
S. Bannerman Wood had a good day when he became the first person to play Hole-in-One on Hole 16.
The One-day 18-Hole Stableford competition, which was opened to senior members of the Club aged between 55 years and above, was in memory of Mr Peter David Quartey, a senior member of the Club who died in 1985.
Mr Mike Ezan, President of the Achimota Golf Club, described the late Mr Quartey as a member whose contributions had helped to develop the fortunes of the Club.
He called on the members to contribute to the development of the sport.
