Oddoye wins 2012 Unilever Golf Tournament

Accra, July 30, GNA – Eric Sowah Oddoye of the Achimota Golf Club put up an impressive performance to win the Men’s event at the 2012 Unilever Golf Championship held last Saturday at the Achimota Golf Course.
Playing at handicap 13, Oddoye finished with a net score of 72 points to emerge winner in the highly competitive men’s division.
In second place was Felix A. Amoah who returned 73 points and Vincent Coffie in third place with 74 points. Dr Harold Agbenu and Owusu Akyaw placed fourth and fifth with a net score of 75 points each.
In the Ladies category, Leticia Amponsah-Mensah also of the Achimota Club was adjudged winner with a score of 73 points, winning on count-back at the expense of Suzzie Abaloo-Kumassah who finished on same points.
The third place went to veteran golfer Mona Myers Lamptey with a score of 75 points.
Theophilus Kwame Govinous dominated the Professionals category with a gross score of 67 points followed by Theophilus K. Kodjo and Robert Aziamakpor in that order with 71 points apiece.
For the Juniors event, Emmanuel Kwashie placed first with 36 points with Patrick Tendar and Sean Donkor following in that order with 37 points and 38 points respectively.
All winners received a plaque and products from Unilever Ghana Limited.
David Mureithi, Managing Director of Unilever Ghana Limited, sponsors of the event, assured of his outfit’s commitment to the promotion of golf and sports in general in the country.
He also rooted for the encouragement of young talents to take up golf which he noted is very attractive at the professional level and can be a source of livelihood.
The 48th edition of the Unilever Golf Tournament drew participation from golfers from the various Gold Clubs across the capital.
