PGA to support Sports Media - Tony Mintah

The president of the Professional Golfers Association of Ghana(PGA) Mr Tony Kwame Mintah has revealed that the PGA will be rolling out an elaborate support system that will position the sports media to report effective and efficiently on golf.

According to him, it's long overdue for the gap to be bridged between the actors on the course and the viewing or listening public who are clueless about some of the jargon or the terminologies associated with the sport...

He articulated that to get the message of golf suit the following down to the ground, it behoves the Professional Body to build the capacity of the sports journalists to bring the listener or viewer up to speed on the developments relative to golf.

The sports media, to be relevant in the scheme of things must possess a substantial body of knowledge that prods one to maintain the distinct hallmark of their profession and this is a project we will go to all length to see it out," he stressed.

Already we have a symbiotic relationship with the sporting press through the good works of our media manager Nana Prempeh and you can attest to how the PGA and the sporting press have built a rock-solid relationship over the relatively short period of time that I have been the driver in the seat as the chief executive officer and strategists in the realm of golf at the professional front."Tony Mintah" emphasized.

In a related development, Tony Kwame Mintah mentioned that the professional body will make good its promise to host the Sunshine major in the country next year.

The Sunshine Major is the biggest golf event on the continent which always attract top PGA golfers from America, Britain and other parts of Europe. The Sunshine major is hosted by South Africa every year.
