Accra, July 19, GNA - The 16th annual Ghana Amateur Seniors Open Golf Championship tees off at the Takoradi Sports Club on Saturday, July 24 and on Sunday, July 25.
Professor Michael Ben-George, President of the Ghana Golf Association who announced this in Accra on Monday, said the two-day 36-Hole Scratch Event, is open to senior golfers throughout the country and it is sponsored by Ghana Oil Company (GOIL).
He said more than 150 golfers are expected to participate in the competition which shall be played under the rules of the Royal Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews of Scotland, the World's Golf governing body and the local rules of the Ghana Golf Association.
Professor Ben-George announced that very attractive prizes have been put at stake and called on participants to sharpen their strokes to win them.
Mr Dua Agyeman, Managing Director of GOIL as well as officials from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports are expected to grace the occasion.
