Two qualify for Peugeot Golf Championship

Accra, July 4, GHP - Paul Owusu-Baah and MARGARET IVY OPPONG (Secretary of the Kumasi Golf Club) qualified to represent Ghana at the International Peugeot Golf Championship scheduled for Paris, France in August this year.

Owusu-Baah returned 63 net while Mary had 66 net to win the Men's and the Ladies events of the Peugeot Challenge Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra at the weekend. The two champions would compete with other winners from 31 countries for the ultimate prize.

Over 120 golfers took part in the one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford event, which was sponsored by Prestige Motor Company Limited and Lufthansa Airlines.

Mr O.B. Amoah, Deputy Minister for Education and Sports commended Prestige Motor Company for sponsoring the event and called on other corporate bodies to help develop the sport in the country.

Mr Nich Adi-Dako, Managing Director of Prestige Motors said his company would continue to support the lesser-known sports especially golf to make it attractive and acceptable in the society. He gave the Assurance that the company would expand its sponsorship package deal next year.
