Accra, March 15, GNA - Rene Kwame returned a net score of 67 to win this month's Achimota Golf Club Medal Open Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.
He was followed in second position by Oswald Kamara with 68 net, while Kumi Ampofo placed third with 70 net. In the Ladies encounter, Francisca Vandyck came first with 70 net with Suzie Abaloo-Kumassah placing second with 72 net. The one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition, opened to amateur golfers in the Greater Accra Region, was sponsored by Somotex Ghana Limited.
Mr Bob Evans, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club thanked the company for sponsoring the competition.
He said that adequate preparations have been put in place by the Club to ensure that the monthly Medal events are honoured and to ensure that the members are put in the best form. Mr Evans called on the members to take active and keen interest in the activities of the Club to be well placed to compete with other Clubs locally and internationally. The competition attracted 100 golfers.
