The national U-20 men’s Handball team continued with their impressive run at the ongoing African Handball Confederation (CAHB) Zone 3 U-20 Championship.

The Black Fingers defeated their Burkinabe counterparts 27-15 on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium to remain in the hunt for a place at the next round.

The hosts proved superior over their northern neighbours to maintain their winning spree at the two-day old championship. The Black Fingers earlier accounted for their Togolese counterparts 31-25 defeat, in their opening encounter.

The Ghanaians will wrap up their campaign at the Group phase against Benin on Wednesday, May 30 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In other matches of the day, Liberia began on a losing note after Niger beat them 18-14 whilst Benin outclassed Togo 36-18.

In the female category, Niger narrowly beat Liberia 19-18 whilst Nigeria made it two wins out of two games after beating Togo 32-16.

The competition continues on Wednesday with the final matches of the Group phase.

The Zonal championship is a developmental programme set up by CAHB towards the development of the sport on the continent. Other participating countries are Burkina Faso and Liberia.

The winner of the competition, which ends on Friday, June 1, will qualify for the continental championship, where the winner will represent Africa at the global championship scheduled for the Czech Republic in November.**
