Ghana, will from September 9, 2016, host Kenya, Nigeria and Namibia male and female teams at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra to determine the teams that take a step closer to the next Hockey World Cup in 2018.
The much awaited 2016 World League Round 1 is about twenty days away and preparations are underway as Ghana gets ready to host its first major tournament since 2012.
Ghana's male and female national teams would compete to emerge top of the competition in order to qualify for the second round of the World League in February 2017. Furthermore, for the Ghana team, this tournament is an opportunity to build enough ranking points to enable them qualify for the next Commonwealth Games to be held in Gold Coast, Australia, in April 2018.
The Ghana Hockey Association believes that with dedication from our players and technical team and with support from Corporate Ghana and well-meaning individuals, the tournament will be a success.
As always, we urge all hockey enthusiasts and supportrers, our media partners and the general public to support us organize and deliver a successful tournament.
Signed
Daniel Kenaz Mensah
