Mobitel Hockey Knockout Competition Launched

MILLICOM Ghana has officially launched the sponsorship package for this year’s Greater Accra Hockey Knockout Competition at the national hockey pitch last Saturday.

Mr Stanley Okoh, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, in a brief ceremony, expressed his company’s desire to continue sponsoring the competition as they have been doing for the past five years.

In his speech, he mentioned special packages for this year’s competition which include special awards for the best player (men and ladies division) the best juvenile player and the best official.
Mr Frank Awuku, Vice-Chairman of Greater Accra Hockey Association, also expressed the association’s gratitude to Millicom Ghana Ltd for sponsoring the competition for the last five years and was grateful to Mr Stanley Okoh for this year’s package.
He promised the General Manager that the package will promote and develop the game. Present at the ceremony were hockey players, officials and hockey fans.
Meanwhile, the pairings for the 2003 Mobitel Hockey competition which will commence on Saturday was released last Wednesday. The preliminary matches will be played on Saturday, August 2 , 2003.
Trustees who are in the same group with Exchequers have drawn bye. Exchequers will play against the winners of the game between Reformers and Citizens.
Golden Sticks will face Veterans in the preliminaries and the winner will play against Trustees.
Multi-Stix who have drawn bye will play against the winners of the Financiers/Kingsticks game. CEPS will clash against Marine Sticks in the quarter finals.
In the ladies division, Comets have a date with Police in the preliminaries. The winner will face Extinguishers in the semi-finals.
CEPS will play Reformers in the second semi-final.
