SWAG Honour NDK Financial Services

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) awarded a Special Prize to Non-Bank Financing giants, NDK Financial Services during the 28th Annual SWAG Awards Night for supporting the promotion of hockey in Ghana. The Ceremony, which took place in Accra on August 2nd 2003, was held under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency, President John Agyekum Kuffour.

The Ghana Hockey Association views the Award of NDK Financial Services as a major boost to its hockey development efforts. In expressing its profound gratitude to SWAG, the Association is also hopeful that Corporate Institutions and Organizations will realize that Ghana Hockey is on the rise and is destined to take its rightful place in African and World hockey. It is the hope of the Association that such Corporate bodies would emulate the shining example of NDK Financial Services and be part of the renaissance of Ghana hockey which has shown tremendous potential as a medal winner as attested by the International Hockey Federation and the African Hockey Federation.

NDK Financial Services’ association with Ghana hockey dates back to the early 1990s. NDK have played a lead role in hockey development by undertaking the following:

    1. Support of the first Greater Accra Hockey Association Awards Night (1994)

    2. Sponsorship of the first Juvenile League of the Greater Accra Hockey Association (1995)

    3. Support of the second Greater Accra Hockey Association Awards Night (1995) – NDK received an award at the Ceremony for their contribution to Hockey Development.

    4. Donation of 2 sets of Jerseys each to Kingsticks (Juniors) and Comets (Ladies) Hockey Clubs of the Greater Accra Hockey Association.

    5. Co-sponsorship of the construction of the first Artificial Hockey Turf in Ghana (1999)

    6. Sponsorship of the first and second GaDangbe-Homowo Invitational Hockey Tournament (2000 & 2001)

    7. Support the Ghana Hockey Association in the Hosting of the Africa Hockey Federation’s 14th Africa Cup for Club Champions Competition in Accra (2002)

    8. Financing one media person to cover and report on the Africa Hockey Federation’s 15th men and 7th women Africa Cup for Club Champions Competition in Pretoria, South Africa.

    9. Forming and financing a Hockey Club (NDK Financiers) to participate in the Greater Accra Hockey League and to support in the development of hockey in other Regions of the country (2003)

    10. Contributing to the running of the Administration and other activities of Ghana Hockey Association (1996 to Date)
