16 Judokas to form national team

Accra, Feb 4, GNA - The Ghana Judo Association (GJA) has selected 16 Judokas from eight weight categories to form the nucleus of the national judo team. A statement issued and signed by Patrick Anyidoho Cofie, Secretary General of the Association copied to the GNA Sports in Accra said the players include Cynthia Dotse and Audrey Odoi for the Women Open Championship while Gideon Sama and U. Z. Alonzo qualified for the Boys Under-13 category.
The other qualifiers' includes Dallas Awenyese and Joseph N. A. Dodoo for the 56KG Super Lightweight, Razak Mumuni and Abdallah Idriss Seidho for 60kg Extra Light Weight division, Rashid Alhassan and Abel Aziz Addy in the 66kg Half Lightweight and Prosper Kudor and Bruce Adjaho for the 73kg Light Weight division). The rest are Raymond Normeshie and Kojo Twum Baah for the 81KG Half Middleweight and Kamaru Salamwu and Alex Dehaini in the 100LG Half Heavyweight).
According to the statement, the selected players were those who excelled in the recent 10th Japanese Ambassador Judo Championship held at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra. It said the championship, which was part of activities celebrating this year's Japanese Culture Week Celebrations also served as a platform for the selection of the players into the national team.
