Ghana’s Judoka at the Olympic Games, Emmanuel Nartey says he lost his fight because he was not mentally strong.

The 30 year was beaten 3-0 by Elmont Dex from Netherlands in the round of 32 of the men’s 73kg event.

He threatened to pull out of the games 16 hours to his fight until his full allowances were settled.

He told XYZ Sports that the issue about unpaid allowances also affected him psychologically in his build up.

“I fought completely below my level and I have since regretted.

“I believe strongly that I lost the mental battle and I think the issue about my allowances was a wrong timing,” Nartey said.

Emmanuel Nartey, who is with the British Army is the first Ghanaian to represent the country in Judo at the Olympic level.
