The General Secretary of Ghana Karate Association, Mr Andrews K. Ocloo, has released the final list of the national Judo team expected to represent the nation in this year’s All African Games.

Ten players were selected. They are Jawam Ladasua, Daniel Babakiya, Aminu Nartey, Kojo Twum Baah and Eugene St. Omar. Others are Gabriel Appiah, Dalad Fusseini, Yusifu Yidana, George Avoryo and Bruce Adjaho.

The selection was done through series of competitions held at the Accra Stadium. Camping has already begun at the Accra Stadium.

According to the General Secretary, lack of sponsorship is affecting the association in its preparation towards the All African Games.

Countries like Burkina Faso, Mali and Togo engage in international friendly tournaments which sometimes take them to Europe and other countries where martial arts has developed. That is why they continue to do well in the All African Games, he stressed.

He pleaded with Judo lovers, fans and coporate bodies who are interested in promoting lesser known sports in Ghana to come to their aid. “So far it has been the Japan Association of Ghana Students Alumnae (JAAGAH) which has supported the national Judo team,” he added.

Meanwhile, the players of the national Judo team are reported to be doing well in camp.
