The Akropong Akwapim Ebenezer Methodist Church has held its annual thanksgiving service with a call on the privileged in society to always extend a helping hand to the less privileged ones.
“If you have been blessed by God and he has elevated you to a high level in society, it is more blessing to always look down and help the less privileged ones”.
Reverend Kwaku Asamoah, Head Pastor of the Church, preaching on the theme “Thus Far the Lord has Helped Us,” admonished the fact that there were many in society who have been blessed but would not extend a helping hand to others, who are in need and that he explained was against God’s teachings.
He noted that all the privileged in society were in one way or the other achieved what they have with the help of God, and urged them to acknowledge that fact and reciprocate by assisting others who were in need.
Quoting from first Samuel 7:12 in the Bible: "Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, "Thus far the LORD has helped us," Rev. Asamoah urged Ghanaians to always acknowledge God as the source of their strength and wealth and give thanks to Him.
“By so doing God, will also be happy with us and expand our territories, open his flood gates and pour unto us more of His blessings”.
The Church has set aside the second Sunday of every November to give thanks to God for what he has done for them throughout the year.
The Church has a week- long activities which include praise night with some celebrated gospel artists, health walk and food bazaar.
Mr Fred Jones Asante, Headmaster of Oyoko Methodist who chaired the service, acknowledged the fact that there were more blessings in giving than in receiving and advised the congregation to work hard and cultivate the habit of giving, adding, “you will be receiving more blessings than you anticipated.”
