Kumasi, June 25, GNA- Twenty-seven parishioners of the Saint Paul's Catholic Church at Amakom in Kumasi on Sunday received certificates of merit from Pope Benedict XVI.
The award winners were selected from Amakom, Anwomaso, Ayeduase, Apirade, Kentinkrono and Asokwa branches of the church. Presenting the awards, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Most Reverend George Kochery, commended the recipients for their dedication, commitment, support and their various roles, which had helped the growth and development of the church.
He indicated that the growth and development of the church depended on how the faithful supported and assisted its smooth operations, adding that leading a good life was equally good as evangelism since it stood the chance of changing the lives of people in society. Most Rev Kochery challenged Christians to emulate the life of Apostle Paul who went through lots of difficulties and atrocities but persevered to win more souls for Christ.
Madam Augustina Patricia Boakye, President of the Saint Paul's Catholic Church on behalf of the award winners, thanked the Pope and the church for the honour done them and pledged to continue to work harder towards the development of the church.
