AYANA Hajj AGENCY THREATENS LEGAL ACTION AGAINST HAJJ BOARD

Alhaji Yakubu Ayana, Chief Executive Officer of Ayana Hajj Agency in Tamale

threatens to drag the National Hajj Board to Court over what he described as

“Undue delay’ in refunding monies to all the disappointed intended Pilgrims who

registered with him for the 2010 Hajj.

He says he can no longer bare the pressure mounted on him by the disappointed

Hajj Pilgrims and gives the National Hajj Board up to January 2011 to refund

the

monies or else he will seek legal redress.

Alhaji Ayana addressed the media in Tamale where he disclosed that about 102

intended Pilgrims who registered with his Agency were disappointed and have

since mounted incessant pressure on him for their monies.

He accused the National Hajj Board of irregularities that characterized the

organization of the 2010 Hajj pilgrimage for which reason government should

intervene to find a solution to the mess.

According to Alhaji Ayana, he wrote a letter to the National Hajj Board for

refund and was told Court had placed an injunction on the Board’s account.

He complained that the problem could affect businesses of Hajj Agents in Ghana

and therefore appealed to government and the National Chief Imam to urgently

help him refund the monies to their rightful owners.

Alhaji Ayana further disputed claims by the National Hajj Board that the Saudi

Embassy gave Ghana only 2,500 quota for the 2010 pilgrimage and revealed that

the real quota was 6,850.
