Mim (B/A), June 29, GNA- The 23rd biennial delegates conference of the Brong-Ahafo Presbytery Men's Fellowship has ended with a call on the church's leadership to fashion out strategic plans and programmes to make life more meaning for members.
Mr Ernest Nathaniel Bour, the outgoing President of the fellowship who made the call, said that was the only way to maintain old members of the church and attract new ones.
The conference was held at Mim in the Asunafo district, and had the theme, "Go therefore and make Disciples of all Nations". Mr Bour appealed to religious leaders to liaise with traditional authorities to lead the crusade against elaborate and expensive funeral celebrations in the country, which affects productivity and waste time and resources.
Mr Bour described the men's fellowship office complex project at Doryumu in the Greater-Accra as a viable project and urged the members to support it financially for its early completion. Alhaji Ishak Bonsu, District Chief Executive for Asunafo, who was the guest of honour, appealed to the clergy, parents and traditional rulers to be concerned with the poor environmental sanitation and also curb the current moral degeneration among the youth in the country. He mentioned the capitation grant, School Feeding Programme, the National Youth Employment Programme and the National Health Insurance Scheme as some of the measures the government has put in place to improve the quality of human resource in the country and asked the public to support it.
Reverend Kwadwo Owusu Sarpong, Presbytery Chaplain of the fellowship, charged the members to commit their time and resources to support evangelism in order to address the stagnant growth of the church.
In a Bible quiz competition, Mr Kwadwo Opuni Frimpong of Sunyani district emerged champion to represent the region in the forthcoming national Bible Quiz competition to be held in August this year.
