Wa, Aug 22, GNA- The Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Most Rev George Kocherry, has asked young Catholic priests to learn from their older colleagues by emulating their good qualities to advance the course of the church and society.

The Most Rev. Kocherry said this at a banquet organised in his honour by the Catholic faith in the Upper West Region to mark the end of his five-days pastoral visit to the region. He said out of the 53 countries in Africa, only Ghana has two resident Cardinals, and urged the young priests to aspire to reach greater heights.

He announced that the Most Rev. Paul Bemile, Bishop of Wa has been appointed personnel adviser to the Pope, and would be counselling the Pope on Christian-Muslim relations.

The Nuncio expressed his gratitude to President John Agyekum Kufuor for awarding him with the Order of the Volta, saying the honour done him was not for him but the church.

Mr. George Hikah Benson, Upper West Regional Minister, described the Nuncio's visit to the region as a sign of blessings and a bond of friendship between the Church and the Region. He said the government appreciates the complementary efforts of the Church in the provision of social facilities such as schools and hospitals, which has benefited the people, especially those in the rural communities.

The Regional Minister appealed to the Nuncio to be an advocator for the Region both in the country and outside to bring more development to the people. Bishop Bemile, urged Christians to live exemplary life styles worthy of emulation by society.
