Bishop Charles Agyin Asare has urged the Clergy in Ghana to live up to the dignity clothing their office and status in society.

“For us who are pastors or the clergy, we should show the dignity of the office by being doers of what we preach,” the Presiding Bishop of Perez Chapel International said on the night of December 31, 2014 at a crossing over church service into the New Year.

“People should be followers of us as we follow Christ,” he counselled.

In Agyin Asare’s view, the Clergy should live above reproach and be role models for Christians.

“…As pastors, we cannot do things and say: ‘Do what I say, don’t do what I do’…we should also teach our congregation to be religiously tolerant,” he said; adding: “The fact that somebody does not believe in what I believe does not make him an enemy.”

He said because religion has been exploited for violent purposes in some parts of the world, the Clergy in Ghana must tread cautiously in the New Year to avert any such circumstances.

“…Those of us who are clergymen – because religion has been used to create a lot of chaos in many parts of the world – in 2015, minus us.”
