Kumasi, June 22, GNA - The Bantama Bible Study and Prayer Group (BSP= G) of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has commemorated its 50th anniversary with a call on Christians to be wary of charlatans who confuse people with strange Bible teachings and doctrines.

The Reverend James Joseph Kumi Duodu, Minister in-charge of the Patasi Presbyterian Church, said Christians should also be receptive to followers of other religious faith. This, he said, was necessary to foster unity and promote peaceful co-existence. "Empowered by the Holy Spirit for Growth," is the theme for the year-long celebration.

The Group is using the event to take stock of its activities with the view to strengthening its structures for effective evangelism. Rev Duodu used the occasion to counsel against what he said was the unhealthy rivalry among the clergy, noting that this could negatively affec= t the church's development. The expectation is that as men of God they would carry themselves with dignity by upholding the values of honesty, humility and modesty. He paid tribute to the founding fathers of the BSPG, saying, through their vision and commitment the church had seen tremendous improvement in its prayer life. He, however, suggested that they introduced some reforms to reflect th= e modern trends in the Christian religion, adding that, they needed to focus on tackling the growing indiscipline amongst Christians and the society in general.

Mr George Kofi Amoako, President of the BSPG, urged the members to mirror Christ-like life to become good examples in the society.
