Bishop Obinim denies promoting adultery

The founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim has denied encouraging his congregation to give birth outside marriage.

The Bishop in a sermon to his congregation at one of the church's branch allegedly said God always blesses partnership between a man and a woman. Hence, there was no need for two persons intending to marry to seek the consent of their parents.

Reports further suggested that Bishop Obinim told his congregation that Adam (first man ever created) and Eve (first woman created) never performed any marriage rites to anyone and that God does not require the consent of parents before blessing a marriage.

In an exclusive interview with Atinkaonline, the controversial ‘Man of God’ said he was misquoted. “ What I said was that, it’s a sin to marry without the consent of ones parents, but God will forgive you if you ask for forgiveness for their union without the consent the parents." he explained.

“God blessed the union between Adam and Eve without Adam performing marriage rites to any family because they were bound to marry", he added.

He again said, “If a man can live with a woman for some time and have children God would bless their union even without the consent of your parents".

When asked about the stamping of his foot on a pregnant woman’s bump in the name of healing, the bishop explained, “the woman was pronounced to die of fibroid by a medical doctor and she came to my church for healing” and God instructed me stamp my foot on her bump”.

According to him, he saved the woman’s life; thus he should rather be commended for healing the woman but not to criticize him for listening to God’s voice.
