Winneba (C/R), May 13, GNA- The Right Reverend Dr. Joseph Ekow Ghunney, Bishop of the Winneba Diocese of the Methodist Church, Ghana, has reminded parents of the need to give their children better home training as a means of curbing the crime wave in the country. He said the time has come for parents and guardians to grab the bull by the horns in order to spare the nation of the mounting rate of criminals in the society.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Ghunney was addressing a large congregation including, Reverend Ministers, the Laity, and other key Leaders of the Church, at the Winneba Ebenezer Methodist Church, to round off activities that marked the 46th annual Synod of the Church.

He blamed current spate of indiscipline that had virtually engulfed the nation on lack of proper and effective training of the youth, particularly on the side of parents and guardians, and reiterated assertions that, the best antidote for indiscipline among children came from the home under the tutelage of parents and guardians.

"Parents and guardians have the responsibility as tradition demands to do all they could to ensure proper and orderly nurturing of their children to enable them fit well into society because whether we like it or not, they are the future leaders of this nation|", Rt. Rev. Dr. Ghunney stressed.

The Diocesan Bishop charged Christian parents to always learn to exhibit the right calibre of lifestyle for their wards and other members of the society to learn.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Ghunney advised Ministers of the Church to accept transfers to remote corners of the country to enlighten people who have deviated from God's ways to accept Christ and be saved.

The Very Reverend Nicholas Asane, Superintendent Minister In-Charge of the Winneba Ebenezer Methodist Church, expressed the hope that Ministers of the Church, working in the Diocese would heed the advice of the Diocesan Bishop to ensure effective dissemination of the Gospel. Very Rev. Asane appealed to the clergy to discard the perception which some of them held that transfers were meant to punish them. He called on members of the church throughout the country to "always remember their Pastors and other leaders of their respective branches to ensure effective cohesion and spiritual advancement of followers of the Methodist Faith, the Church and the nation."
