Kumasi, May 30, GNA - The Very Reverend Father Anthony Manu, Dean of the Asawasi Deanery of the Catholic Church, has urged married couples to exercise restraint in times of misunderstanding. He said they should not resort to divorces since the high rate of divorces was responsible for the breeding of deviant children, stress in life and poverty among the youth.

Very Reverend Father Manu was delivering a sermon at a mass wedding of 18 couples at the St. Anthony's Parish at Sepe- Buokrom in Kumasi. The occasion formed part of activities marking the Golden Jubilee celebration of the parish. The priest said marriage was a holy institution and as such couples should respect its principles to ensure stable homes to help nurture responsible adults.

He advised the youth to shun promiscuous lifestyles to avoid sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted children. Mr. Stephen Nyarko, Catechist of the parish, said the church would encourage the mass wedding concept to save cost. 30 May 10
