The Obuasi Diocesan bishop of the Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Bishop John Afoakwa has asked God to grant the District Chief Executive for Amansie central in the Ashanti region, Nana Kwame Asamoah Boateng his blessings and strength to discharge his duties effectively.
He also beseeched God to grant Asamoah Boateng the sensitivity to hear, know and feel what is on the ground in the district in order to deliver to the expectations of the people in the district.
Rev. Bishop John Afoakwa made the remarks at Mile 14 at Akrokeri in the Amansie central district as part of bishops' pastoral visit to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish under the theme “Just Righteous who is persecuted for the truth right cause”.
Delivering a sermon to the congregation, the Bishop quoting Matthew 5:10, which says “blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” he encouraged the DCE to ignore unfounded criticisms and focus much on the duty assigned him and good Lord will see him through to deliver for the good people of Amansie central.
Rev Bishop Afoakwa urged the church members to support and Hon. Nana Kwame Asamoah Boateng and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo with prayers to deliver in the various flagship programs of the government and other developmental projects as promised prior to the 2016 elections.
Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive for Amansie Central Nana Kwame Asamoah Boateng expressed his profound gratitude to Rev bishop John Afoakwa and the entire Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish members for the blessings bestowed upon him.
Highlighting some developmental projects in the district by the Nana Addo led NPP administration he mentioned that the government has built girls dormitory for Jacobu Senior High Technical School and a water supply, provision of classrooms to some basic schools within the district, Adding that government has absorbed Tweapease Senior high school with computer placement inclusion.
According to him, construction of Fire Service Quarters at Jacobu and Police Quarters at Apitisu which was awarded by the previous government and could not commence is now on roofing stage under the leadership of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.
Nana Asamoah Boateng noted that measures have been instituted to curb the menace of illegal mining popularly known as “galamsey” in the district and therefore called on the entire district to come together in order to win the fight against galamsey.
