Bolgatanga, Aug 4, GNA - The Knights of Saint John International Ghana, a charitable organisation within the Catholic Church, held a convention in Bolgatanga on Saturday with a call on Christians to champion the course of peace.
The Worthy Grand President of the Knights, Brigadier General Anthony T. Baissana, said as Christians they owed it as a duty to create an atmosphere of peace for national development.
"We should strive then to put on our armour of courage, honesty and sacrifice to serve our families, communities, the order, the church and our country."
He urged Christians to always preach peace wherever they were especially in their various communities. Brigadier General Baissana appealed to Christians to exhibit a high sense of discipline by their deeds for the youth to emulate.
Mr Gampson Bozie, the Bolgatanga Municipal Host Commander of the Knights, urged Knights to continue their good works in the area of promoting charity work, visiting and praying for the sick and rendering assistance to the needy.
Mr Bozie appealed to Moslems and Christians to avoid conflicts and urged them to continue to coexist peacefully.
"As Soldiers of Christ and Allah your arms and ammunition are not AK47 but the gift of the Holy Spirit, wisdom, understanding, piety, knowledge, fear of the Lord, fortitude and counsel. These should be the ammunition of both Christians and Moslems to create an atmosphere for them to co-exist peacefully."
The convention brought together more than 100 participants from the three northern regions.
