The National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu has descended on one of his officers, Alhaji Ahmed Nii Nortey aka Caesar for acting without authority.

The action is a fallout from the recent visit to the Israeli Embassy in Accra for a donation of rice and sugar for the Islamic community from the mission of which Caesar played a pivotal role.

The donation sparked a row within the ranks of the Islamic community, many of whom considered it as a stab in the back of fellow Palestinian Muslims suffering the heavy-handedness of the Israelis even during the month of Ramadan.

A letter dated 15th July 2O14 and signed by the Islamic cleric, indicated that the said Caesar is being suspended until further notice.

“It has come to my attention that you were involved in the collection of a donation from the Israeli Embassy in Accra without authority.

“Regretfully, I find this action of yours unacceptable and reprehensible given the prevailing circumstances, and your position in my outfit.

“I am therefore directing, based on consultation with my Advisory Board, that you step aside with immediate effect until further notice pending investigation on the matter,” the letter said.

It would be recalled that some Muslims went to the Israeli Embassy to receive a donation on behalf of Muslims for the Ramadan month thereby triggering a row.
