Accra, Sept. 26, GNA - The President of the Ghana Christian University College (GCUC), Dr. Manuel B. Adjei has reiterated that the University would continue to build the capacity of its products to enable them to contribute their quota to Ghana's development.
The University is, therefore, poised to instill in students vital transformational values such as knowledge, skills and virtues.
Dr. Adjei was delivering an address at the 45th graduation and 5th congregation of the Ghana Christian University College at Amrahia near Accra.
In all, 60 students graduated with certificates in Pastoral Ministry, Professional Education, Degree in Theology while 4 students including a twin brother and a sister chalked first class in Development Management, bringing the number of graduates the school has churned out since 1968, to over 1,000.
The theme for the occasion was, "Holistic Education for Holistic Human and National Development: The Role of Tertiary Education".
Dr. Adjei explained that the nation could not realize the Better Ghana agenda unless the principles of spiritual transformation of persons and a social transformation of systems were upheld.
An Associate Professor at the University of Ghana, Legon, Clara Fayorsey underscored the valuable contribution of private tertiary institutions towards the socio-economic development of the nation.
She commended the University for not only maintaining academic excellence but also producing scholars with proven integrity, good moral standing and discipline.
Prof. Fayorsey charged the University to institute an internal plan to spearhead development and make quality assurance an integral part of its programme.
She urged the graduands to leave the University as missionaries of Jesus Christ imbued with the power of spiritual transformation to propagate the gospel and exhibit the highest sense of integrity, excellence and relevance.
The immediate past President of the Students Representative Council (SRC), Mr. Cyril Nii-Offei France said under his tenure, the University visited the residents of Nzulezo in the Jomoro District to sensitize the community on good sanitation and to help protect their only source of drinking water which had hitherto been used as a place of convenience and for the dumping of waste.
He charged the graduands and the entire student body to take their academic work seriously and enter the world of work to make a difference in the lives of men.
