Accra, June 19, GNA - Reverend Mrs Nyuime Adiepena, Coordinator of the West Volta Presbytery, has urged Christian women to develop the attitude of giving in order to invoke the blessing of God for their lives. "Jesus demonstrated to us how to give selflessly by laying down His life for mankind", she told the women on Saturday to open a week-long Evangelical Presbyterian Church women's rally in Accra where women are taught among other things employable skills.

The rally to be climax with a thanksgiving service is on the theme: "Newness in Christ and Ministry of Kindness: the role of the Christian woman." She said it was the duty of every Christian to reach out to those in need.

"So when we give selflessly we get recommendation from the Lord, let us therefore learn to give and give selflessly" she added. Rev. Mrs Adiepena urged the Christian women to take everything they would be taught at the rally serious so as to become economically empowered. She introduced corn fortified Soya beans bread to the gathering, an initiative of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and hoped that the women would learn how it is prepared.

Rev. Mrs Adiepena noted that, that type of bread used to be common in the past and urged the women at the rally to launch a campaign to re-introduce it into society because of its nutritional value. Reverend Joyce Kodade, Moderator of the West Volta Presbytery urged Christian women to be compassionate, patient and humble with each other to move the development of the Church forward. He noted that, Christ would not be happy to see the downfall of the Church, hence they should try to be united to reach out to more souls for Christ.

He entreated the women to pray for the Church leaders to continue with the good works they were doing for the E.P Church to grow and develop. Mrs Jane Kwawu a Women Activist, stressed on the need to equip women to participate in all spheres of life, including activities in the Church. She noted that women empowerment was an important aspect of a country's development and noted that countries in eastern part of Africa had made significant improvement in women representation in decision making. Mrs Kwawu said women needed to be well informed to make informed decisions that would positively affect them in whatever they did. She said the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MOWAC) was working around the clock to partner faith-based organisations to address issues concerning women in Ghana.

The women were drawn from all the district of the E.P Church. The women Ministry has the slogan: "Afetor la fe nuse le Dekaworwor me" meaning "unity in Christ is strength." The women were also educated on the prevention, dangers and treatment of diseases such as cancer and diabetes as well as diseases that affect the eye. 19 June 10
