Christians asked to seek fortunes through God

The Most Reverend Jean-Marie Speich, the Catholic Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana on Sunday called on Christians, especially Catholics to always seek fortune through the Almighty God and through no other means.

He advised against people seeking answers and fortunes through ungodly means in time of hardship and frustrations.

“Accept the kingdom of God for salvation as there is no manipulation before God,” he added.

The Apostolic Nuncio was preaching during a Pontifical High Mass, held in his hounor at the Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral to climax activities marking his four- day Pastoral working visit to the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese in the Western Region.

He called on Christians to emulate the qualities of Christ Jesus by showing kindness and love for one another, especially the needy and deprived without discrimination.

At a meeting with the Laity, a society within the Catholic Church, Most Rev Speich called for the intensification of evangelism to win more souls into the church while expressing regret about members leaving for other churches.

He said: “A devout Catholic should not live the church," and urged the Laity to collaborate with the priests to investigate the rationale behind church members leaving the mission.

“Members must also muster the courage to approach their priests and other religious leaders if they feel things are not right with the view to find solutions to the unfortunate situation rather than to leave the church.

Most Rev John Bonventure-Kwofie, Bishop of the Diocese commended the priests, and the leadership for their support and hard work towards the growth of the diocese and the Cathedral.

The Apostolic Nuncio earlier visited the St Mary’s Junior Seminary and the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto at Egyam in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region.
