Tema, Dec 25, GNA-Christians in the Tema Municipality on Friday trooped to the various Churches to celebrate Christmas, the birth of Christ. At the Emmanuel Methodist Church in Tema, Right Reverend Samuel Addo Donkor, the Superintendent Minister, called for peaceful co-existence among ethnic groups to promote unity and development.
Rt. Rev Samuel Mensah, President of the Full Gospel Church International at Community One, impressed on Christians to let humility, love, patience, and compassion permeate their lives as they reflected on the birth of Christ.
Bishop Beatrice Hedidor, Presiding Bishop of the Upper Room Assembly in Tema, called on the affluent in society to show compassion to the under-privileged and unfortunate ones. Bishop Hedidor also called for peace among the various political parties, and asked politicians to fulfil electoral promises to meet the basic needs of society.
Rev. Mrs. Colleen Opoku Amuaben, General Overseer of the Precious Seed Chapel International in Tema, advised the congregation to use the occasion to share and learn how to give, especially to the very vulnerable in society.
She said God gave His only begotten Son to the world to atone for sins of mankind and urged Christians to emulate His way of life. Rev. Thomas Henry Quarmson, Head Pastor of the Holy Ghost Assemblies of God Church in Ashaiman, advised Christian women to love, respect and obey their husbands.
Rev. Quarmson blamed the numerous break-ups and divorces in Christian marriages on the inability of some husbands to provide Christmas presents to their wives.
He, therefore, asked husbands to use the occasion to provide for the needs of their wives and children.
