Space FM,Sunyani- Several churches in Sunyani went into thanksgiving and praises on Sunday following the Black Starlets advancement into the semis of the FIFA U- 17 Championship in South Korea with a 2-0 victory over their Peruvian counterparts on Saturday.

With that sweet victory, the Starlets would next meet Spain who also beat France on penalties in an earlier on encounter.

Goals from Sadick Adams and Ransford Osei were all the Starlets needed to see off the South Americans in a game the Ghanaians could have won with many goals if they had been more accurate upfront.

Mr Yeboah Boateng of the International Central Gospel Church said "when Ghana plays deciding matches on Sundays, victories are certain because the christian community offer serious prayers and God has done it again".

Miss Helena Boabeng of the Christ Apostolic Church told this reporter that she offered thanksgiving prayers when she went to church because she knew the Lord was behind the Starlets."I know the Lord is with the Starlets and we shall march from victory to victory", she said.

Miss Faustina Maame Akua Konadu of the Christian Praise International Church, noted that 2007 is a jubilee for Ghana and all things shall work in favour of the Black Starlets. "This year is our year to rejoice, we are coming back with the U-17 world cup by the grace of the Lord", she told Space FM shortly after church service.

Papa Abisa, the famous akan newscaster was glad that the team has made it to the semis. He said "the battle has just begun for the Starlets because Spain, ou next opponents could be tough customers and I wish the technical bench to devise very good strategies to overcome them".

Th Executive Administrator of Berekum based Shalom Radio, Mr Andrews Akuoko Woodman, commended both the playing and technical bodies for the sterling performances so far. He was very thankful to the Lord for what He has done for the country this year."I know the Lord is behind all the successed we have had as a nation especially in this jubilee year", he said.

Richard Boahene of the Wesley Methodist Church said "we must be thankful to God for our victory and we must continue to pray for the Starlets to enable them bring the cup home".
