Christians in Tarkwa and its environs have joined the world to commemorate Easter Sunday, a day that marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

While the Pentecostal and Charismatic churches marked the festivity with the climax of conventions, the Catholic and protestant churches marked the day with baptism of new converts and vigils.

Most church auditoriums the Ghana News Agency visited were filled with regular and occasional worshippers, who were dressed in white, sung praises and danced to the glory of God for giving his son Jesus Christ as an atonement for their sins.

At the Saint Matthew Catholic Church, Reverend Father Anthony Nii Nioo Dowuona, the Parish Priest urged Christians to see Easter as a time anything dead in their lives would resurrect.

He entreated Christians never to give up in challenging times but continue to let the fire of faith burn in them.

Rev. Father Dowuona called on Christians to tell people about the resurrected Christ as he has paid all their debts with his pervious blood.

"Try and do something new and good unto our Lord because you will rip what you sow" he added.

From the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Judah Temple, Professor Richard Akwasi Amankwah, asked Christians to learn to forgive when they were offended.

He explained that "Jesus Christ separate our sins from us as far as the East is from the West and he remembered not, so on a day like this remember to forgive".

Prof. Amankwah reminded Christians that they were justified before he called them.

He noted that "many people would have been disqualified and this are important things we have to remember as we celebrate Easter Sunday".

At the Gaddiel Acquaah Methodist Church, the Methodist Bishop of Tarkwa Diocese, Right Reverend Thomas Amponsah-Donkor, said the death and resurrection gave a message to the early church.

"The church was all of a sudden transformed into a community of believers such that the cowardly fearful Peter stood before the authorities who killed Jesus and said they will obey God rather than them", Right Rev. Amponsah-Donkor indicated.

"That is what the power of His resurrection can do. It gets people out of their shells so they live their lives to the fullest potential", he pointed out.

At the Cyanide park, the Tarkwa Area of the Christ Apostolic Church International had its convention, which was attended by hundreds of people.

It was on the theme: "Occupy till l come, Luke 19:13".

Reverend Kwabena Nyarko, the Area Head, in a sermon said through the resurrection Christians have received many gifts.

Rev. Nyarko entreated Christians to press on to possess perfection for which Christ Jesus died on the cross for all Christians.

Reverend Joseph Anyane Asare of Victory Bible Church International, Power Sanctuary, indicated that God wanted believers to exhibit true love for one another.

He called on Christians to refrain from abandoning God's work as it contains lots of blessings.
