Christians relegating God to the background

The Very Reverend Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, a Protestant Chaplain of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has urged Christians to adhere strictly to Biblical principles in their endeavours.

He said, “Christianity seems to be relegating to the background God’s own teachings and expectations from mankind in favour of what seems right in our eyes.”

“We seem to be saying “God we do not need you in our lives; we have made our own laws.”

This, he said, was responsible for the indiscipline on the part of some followers, culminating in all sorts of unhealthy behavior to the detriment of the good image Christianity had carved for itself over the years.

Addressing the 29th Annual General Meeting of the Kumasi Diocesan Association of the Methodist Men’s Fellowships at Asawase, Very Rev. Dr. Boafo advocated a change in attitude to ensure that religion achieved its objectives

“Overcoming the Challenges in Mobilizing the Fellowships’ Resources for Witness to Christ Today,” was the theme for the event.

The Protestant Chaplain, who is also a Minister of the Methodist Church Ghana (MCG), advised the Association to complement efforts of the clergy, particularly in the area of evangelism, since that was the cardinal mission of the church..

Mr. Edward Nketia-Asante, Kumasi Diocesan Chairman of the Association, said his outfit was able to inaugurate five new branches within the period under review.

This brings to 97, the number of branches so far under the Diocese, thereby appreciating the Association’s numerical strength from 2, 942 to 3,094.

The Diocesan Chairman outlined various innovative programmes outlined to attract the youth into their fold and to also ensure accelerated growth of the Association.
