Christians throwing away faith in God for politics

Apam (C/R), Aug 19, GNA - The Catholic Church has noted that the involvement of some Christians in partisan politics is making them to throw away their faith in God.

The Church has, therefore, initiated a measure to give good Christian training to the youth to make them not to depart from their faith in God.

The Reverend Father Samuel Akoto, Director of Catechesis of the Archdiocese of Cape Coast, stated this in a sermon to mark the feast of Assumption of the Blessed Mary at the Apam St Joseph's Catholic Church.

The Rev Fr Akoto said the training would start from the home, adding that 93the families that pray together live together".

He urged parents to pray together with their children at home to encourage them to know the need to pray.

The Rev Father expressed concern about the upsurge of moral decadence in the society and called on people who hide behind politics to indulge in anti-social activities to put a stop to it.

He advised politicians not to let the power they seek to make them to push the youth into indulging in hooliganism, drunkenness and other activities that could retard their spiritual development.

The Rev Fr Akoto said Christianity was faith of love and pointed out that Christians had adopted a name which they did not abide with.

He advised the parishners to encourage community prayers and meetings to enable them to cater for the needs of the Church members living in their communities.

The Rev Fr Jude Eduafo Ampah, Parish Priest, assured the Director that activities in the dormant communities in Apam would be revived to enhance the development of the Church.
