Eguase (C/R), July 18, GNA - Okatakyie Dr Amenfi VII, Omanhen of Asebu Traditional Area has appealed to Christians to help fight anti-social activities, such as homosexual and lesbianism in the society.
The Omanhen said Christians were regarded as the "light of the world" therefore it was incumbent on them to check things which Christ abhors.
Addressing a rally of the Moree Circuit of the Methodist Church to mark its 25th Anniversary, Okatakyie Dr Amenfi pointed out that Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed by fire because of they were practicing homosexuality and lesbianism, which were the greatest abomination of God.
He said it was unfortunate that some people in Ghana, which is regarded as a religious country, accept and practice homosexuality and lesbianism.
He said as a traditional ruler they would do every thing possible to discourage the practice in their areas and advised church leaders to use the pulpit to speak against it.
Rt Rev Nicholas Asane, Bishop of the Cape Coast Diocese of the Methodist Church commended members of the church in the circuit for carrying on the spiritual warfare relentlessly to date.
He said they have kept the faith, holding high the flaming torch, which their fathers lit to show the path to salvation.
Rt Rev Asane urged them to remember the toil and the relentless efforts of their fathers as they celebrated the anniversary and rededicate themselves for the continuous growth of the circuit in all aspects.
Mr Peter Atta Amofa, Lay President of the Cape coast Diocese of the church said the church at Moree was regarded as an integral part of the Cape Coast Diocese and therefore they had been keeping constant touch of its activities.
Very Rev James F. Yawson, Superintendent Minister of the circuit said the remarkable past of the church must continue to inspire and motivate them.
He urged them to bring their various God given talents together to continue the good work started by their forbearers.
Mr David Abakah Yawson, Circuit Steward gave account of how the circuit was established with 17 societies.
He said through hard work eight new societies had been established.
In all, 105 members were presented with citations for their hard work and dedication.
