Right Reverend Emmanuel Awanyo, Moderator of the Eglise Evangelique Presbyterienne du Togo, has called on Christians to seek spiritual intercession for peace in Africa.

Rt. Rev. Awanyo was delivering a sermon at the ordination and thanksgiving service at the end of the fourth General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Dzodze-Penyi on Sunday. The event was under the theme, “Strategic Evangelism for Sustainable Development”.

Rt. Rev. Awanyo said many countries in Africa were suffering under the yoke of civil strife, calamities and under-development because they have failed to put God at the centre of their administration.

He observed that Ghana has been an exception to the rule because “Ghanaians are God-fearing and feed themselves with the fruit of the Holy Spirit”. Rt. Rev. Awanyo prayed that the rest of Africa would take a cue from Ghana’s example.

In an exhortation to seven new Ministers ordained into the Ministry of the Church, Reverend Godwin K. Osiakwa, Clerk of the General Assembly, said their job as Pastors was the best because they would be teaching people to reconcile with God.

In this regard, he said, they should teach the truth to all in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ and be good examples in morality, self-restraint, truth humility and obedience. Rev. Osiakwa exhorted the new Pastors to seek their strength in Jesus Christ who would help them to remain unshakable and overcome temptations.
