The newly inducted Eastern Regional Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana, Rev. Dr. Stephen O. Narh has called for an end to greediness, wealth amassing among other corrupt practices that happen in government and other institutions to turn around the fortunes of the country.
This, he said, can impart positively on the economy if corruption and economic indiscipline still persist in government and other places.
Rev. Dr. Stephen Narh said this in his address during an induction service to officially give him the mandate to begin his work as the new Eastern Regional Superintendent for the next four years. The ceremony which was officiated by the National Treasure of the Church, Rev. Bentil took place at Calvary Assembly of the Assemblies of God, Koforidua Central.
Rev. Dr. Narh who until assuming office as the Regional Superintendent serve the church in the region for 12 years as the regional treasure. He took over from Rev. Alexander Ofori Amankwaa who has served for 15 years as the regional superintendent.
He has therefore; praise the government for the recent National Economic Forum which took place at Senchi near Akosombo in the Eastern region.
The three-day National Economic Forum has ended with the participants coming out with a 22-point resolution.
The forum brought together heads of institutions and organizations, former governors of the Bank of Ghana, former Finance Ministers, government officials, Civil Society Organizations and other political parties.
The non-partisan participants proposed among other things, the amendment of the Bank of Ghana Act to set a ceiling on its lending to government.
Speaking at the induction ceremony, Rev. Dr. Narh was of the view that even though the Bible has stated that hard times will come, certain human factors deepen the hardship.
He pledged the church’s commitment to support government in empowering the citizenry economically to raise their living standards.
Rev. Dr. Narh also hit hard on charlatans in Christendom hiding behind the gospel to perpetrate their corrupt activities to desist from the act since judgement is just around the corner.
Rev. Dr Narh also pledged to lead the church in the region to raise the current Assemblies of the Church from 281 to 500 and raise membership from 31,000 to 100,000 in his first tenure of office.
Rev. Ato Bentil, the National Treasurer of the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana during a sermon on leadership, said there is the need for a charismatic, exemplary and transformational leadership in all aspects of life to ensure a positive change.
He advised the newly elected regional Superintendent to exhibit good leadership skills to transform the Church in the region.
The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Mavis Ama Frimpong in her address, called on religious bodies, in particular, Christians to pray for the country's economy since it needs divine intervention of God before the nation can experience a sigh of relief from its current economic condition.
She urged Ghanaians not to depend on politicians for their economic survival instead of God since He is the only one who can provide the needs of individuals.
