Church donates to Weija Leprosarium

The North Kaneshie Central chapter of the Christ Apostolic Church International (CACI), has donated assorted items worth GH? 4, 000.00 to inmates of the Weija Leprosarium in Accra.

The items included drugs, mosquito nets, insecticides sprays and coil, bondages, gauze, camel antiseptics, washing powder, bars of key soap and pepsodents.

The rest were sacks of rice, cooking oil, sacks of corn and cassava dough, sacks of gari, sugar, oats, fruits as well as bags of used clothes.

Reverend George Asante, Resident Pastor, North Kaneshie Central, CACI, who made the presentation, said it was part of the church’s social responsibilities to respond to the needs of the less privileged in society.

He said the donation marked the climax of the church’s annual 30 days fasting and prayer dubbed: “Fire Conference.”

“Every year as part of activities marking our annual prayer and fasting month in July, we reach out to the needy hence our visit here today to extend a helping hand to the underprivileged

“There is the need to make the less affected feel at home and always know that people care for them wherever they find themselves,” he said.

Rev Asante encouraged the inmates to look up to God believing that God has not forsaken them saying: “Is not a mistake as to why you are in such a condition but for the glory of God to be seen,” he said.

He said the Council and CACI as a whole, sees orphans and widows as important people in the society and that, at regular intervals they need to reach out to them to make them know their worth in society.

Madam Gladys Adobea, Head Prefect of the Weija Leprosarium, thanked the church for the gesture and called on other public spirited individuals and organisations to emulate it.

The Church also held a brief prayer session with the inmates.
