Kumasi, July 18, GNA - Reverend Nicholas Awuah-Sarpong, Administrator of the Maranatha Evangelistic Ministries, has called on church leaders to seek the development and well-being of their followers.

He asked the leaders to assist their members to acquire vocational skills, sensitize them on sanitation and environmental issues and educate them on their civic responsibilities, for national development.

Rev. Awuah-Sarpong was speaking to Ghana News Agency in Kumasi after the church undertook a clean-up exercise at the Suntreso and Manhyia Government Hospitals.

The church also donated quantities of detergents and toilet rolls to the hospitals for the upkeep of patients.

Rev. Awuah-Sarpong said that the exercise formed part of activities marking the silver jubilee celebration of the church, which is on the theme: "Celebrating the Goodness of the Lord and 25 years of Healing Ministry".

He advised Ghanaians to undertake physical exercises to keep them fit and to go for periodic medical check-up to know their health status.

Rev. Awuah-Sarpong said that the church would organize free health screening exercises, family night, games and thanksgiving service as part of activities marking the anniversary.

Mr Kwame Sarpong, a Pharmacy Technician of the Manhyia Hospital, thanked the church for the exercise and advised the members to have vaccination against the H1N1 disease.
