Some irate church members of Mempom Assemblies of God Church in the Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern region on Sunday chased out their district Pastor, Pastor David Asare from the Church premises over what they term incompetent management of the church.

The angry church members, prior to their action, pasted notices on the church building and called for immediate change of the pastor.

Some of the inscriptions on the posters read, ''pastor Asare we don't need you anymore in Mempom A/G, We need Pastor Asare to be changed because the Church is now without a Board.”

According to the secretary of the church, several petitions were written to the regional directorate of the church in Koforidua calling for the removal of the pastor; however, nothing was heard from the regional secretariat to that effect.

Therefore, the church members had no choice but to chase the district pastor out of the church premises “to pave way for a more competent person to take the position.” Some of the allegations leveled against the pastor were that he is incompetent, preaches one way, is arrogant and is creating disunity in the church.

They also alleged that, the wife of the pastor is disrespectful and cast innuendos on the church members at the least opportunity.

According to information gathered, the regional secretariat of the church since the incident occurred has stepped in to resolve the matter, but is reluctant to speak to the media on the issue.
