Asuboi, (E/R), May 29, GNA - The Presbyterian Church at the weekend provided free medical care for its congregation and the people of Asuboi and its surrounding communities in the Eastern Region. The programme was necessitated by various complaints of ill-health among the beneficiaries.

Speaking to the GNA in an interview at Asuboi, Rev. Dr. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, the Akuapem Presbytery Chairperson said the Church has also embarked on health education in 19 communities by teaching them how to take proper care of their health and the environment. Rev. Dr. Yeboah stressed on preventive measures such as maintaining hygienic conditions, doing away with dangerous objects such as burying broken bottles and unwanted containers to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.

He said communities that benefited from the programme, included Koforidua, Effiduase, Aburi, Adeisu, and Nankese. A medical team from the Koforidua hospital examined eye problems, checked blood pressure and provided medications. The Rev. Samuel Asiama Koranteng, in-charge of the Asuboi branch of the church thanked the church member for organising the programme, which would go a long way to improve the health status of the people.
