The Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana (MCG), has impressed upon ministers of the Gospel to preoccupy themselves with mission.

He said their zeal for missionary work should be unquestionable as the growth of Christianity to a large extent depended on them.

Speaking at a special service in Kumasi in honour of the Right Reverend Dr. Nuh Ben Abubekr, former Diocesan Bishop, on the occassion of his 70th birthday, he enjoined ministers of God to be honest, transparent and not lord it over their congregations.

Most Reverend Professor Asante indicated that the Ministers' work ought to be devoid of arrogance, unhealthy competition and disrespect for Biblical tenets.

The event was under the theme: "70 years of God's abundant grace and favour".

Right Reverend Dr. Abubekr, a former teacher, was ordained in 1987 and had since worked in various Societies of the MCG.

Most Reverend Prof. Asante lauded the former Diocesan Bishop for his commitment to the growth of Methodism.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, in a speech read on his behalf, lauded the Church for being an agent of change in respect of health, infrastructural and educational development.

Right Rev. Dr. Abubekr thanked the leadership and members of the church for supporting his work over the years.
